3.L’ombre de l’Opera

Illustrations for an indie/terror video game adaptation of “Suspiria“ (1977)

We were tasked with creating the art direction for a video game adaptation of a film we enjoyed as a project at my university. Our group, consisting of Samanta Román, Andie Puentes, and myself, chose the 1977 film "Suspiria" by Dario Argento.

In this horror film, a young ballet dancer is accepted into her dream school, but what seems like a dream quickly turns into a nightmare. She begins witnessing a series of killings and disappearances of other students in the school, eventually realizing that the school is controlled by a group of witches responsible for these events.

In our adaptation, the protagonist is invited to an old ballet school where her mother once studied in order to create a report. However, upon arrival, she finds the place seemingly empty and becomes trapped in a maze-like game of corridors filled with scares, stories, and enigmas. The player will need to navigate through these areas to uncover the history of the building and its inhabitants in order to escape.

Throughout this project, I participated in the ideation of the game and story, primarily focusing on creating illustrations, particularly those depicting the space and characters, which are the ones you can have a look at this page.
